Internet Usage GrowthFrom a commercial standpoint it was the invention of the World Wide Web in 1992 by Tim Berners-Lee, a clever interface using words, pictures and sound (WWW or the Web), that made the Internet accessible and interesting. This, coupled with faster connectivity and security programs, opened new business and marketing possibilities. A further boost came as home users flocked to join, and coupled with the rate of use by the young and affluent, whole new markets were opened up.
