The 'Downside' of the InternetAs digital technology has advanced over the past 50-odd years with a force unprecedented in history, governments, businesses and people around the world have been affected immeasurably. This has been exacerbated over the last ten years by the introduction of the Internet. It is axiomatic that the changes have included substantial benefits. However, such fundamental restructuring in society also results in certain disadvantages, on all levels. There are increased possibilities of vulnerabilities in the infrastructure that is being relied upon and the human nature of distrust of new technologies. Vulnerability increases with the perceived value of and reliance on this technology.
