Infrastructural IssuesThe original CERT was set up in 1988 as a direct response to the 'Morris' worm of that year. Since then, the CERT has issued a constant stream of advice and monitored infrastructure issues on the Internet. CERT publishes an annual report and these figures have been used as consistent indicators of infrastructural issues of the Internet. Many countries now have their own CERTs, but CERT's figures have been used as they are the most complete. There are a number of CERTs in the UK, each specialising in their own specific areas (e.g. UNIRAS for Government, Government contractors and CNI and JANet for Academia). UNIRAS was set up in 1992 and was a classified Government service until 2000 at which time it expanded its user base to include strategic Government partners and produced its first annual report in 2001. |
